Since its inception, the University of Marist has attained numerous institutional milestones and accolades that underscore our commitment to excellence. Founded in 2005 as a specialist college, Marist quickly grew in stature and breadth. In 2010, we were granted full university status by Royal Charter, affirming the high quality of our teaching and governance. This designation conferred independent degree-awarding powers, and we proudly remain fully accredited by the relevant UK authorities. Our programmes meet the rigorous standards of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), and periodic reviews have commended Marist for its robust academic standards and student support. The University is also recognized by the UK’s Office for Students and is an active member of international higher education networks, ensuring our qualifications are respected worldwide.
Over the years, Marist has expanded its academic portfolio and infrastructure in line with global developments. We established a number of pioneering programmes and research centres that highlight our innovative spirit – from launching one of the country’s first undergraduate degrees in Artificial Intelligence to opening the Institute for Sustainable Futures in 2020. We continually invest in state-of-the-art facilities: a new Science and Innovation Building was unveiled in 2018, providing cutting-edge laboratories and collaborative spaces for research and learning. These developments reflect key achievements in our strategic plan and demonstrate our proactive response to emerging fields and student needs. The University’s growth is also evident in our diverse student body and faculty; today we host students from over 60 countries and have forged partnerships with leading universities and industry partners around the globe.
The University of Marist’s dedication to quality has been formally recognized through various honors and assessments. We were proud to receive a Silver rating in the UK’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) – a testament to the outstanding teaching and learning environment we provide. In the most recent National Student Survey, Marist achieved above-average student satisfaction scores, reflecting positive student experiences across our programmes. Our faculty and research teams have garnered awards and recognition in their respective fields, including national teaching awards and competitive research grants. Marist’s growing research profile was affirmed when a majority of our submissions in the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF) were rated world-leading or internationally excellent. These achievements, alongside our accreditation and global collaborations, reinforce the University’s reputation as a rising centre of academic excellence. Each accolade and milestone not only celebrates our past and present, but also inspires us to aim even higher in the future.
